ACTIVITY REPORT
POSKO BERSAMA "KAWAN SUMBAR"
NATIONAL BOARD OF INDONESIAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION (IMA)
02 OCTOBER - 12 NOVEMBER 2009

POSKO BERSAMA “KAWAN SUMBAR" is a post of National Board of IMA and the combination of several professional organizations including of IBI, PPNI, ISFI, PDGI supported by BAKORNAS LKMI, GP PHARMACY, UPLIFT, and PROJECT HOPE.



The coordinating post was located at the INS KAYU TANAM High School in PADANG PARIAMAN District. Activities of this post were started since 6 October 2009. Before the coordinating post was constructed, an advanced team has arrived in Padang since 2 Oktober 2009 which consist of dr. Ulul Albab and dr. Harris Istianggoro.








The second team consists of 10 doctors (dr. Asturi Putri, dr. Ahmad Sirri Lazuardi, dr. Sastra Wirawan, dr. Lakshmi Banawati, dr. Siti Nurhidayati, dr. Rafiati Sari, dr. Rizki Utama, dr. Tarwiyan Danang, dr. Ahmad Effendi, dr. Gensya Prangomo), 2 nurses, 2 midwives, and 1 pharmacist which were Iwan Effendi, Samsul Bahri, Yusti Amalia, Zulvi Wiyanti, Muh. Iqbal's Julian Rianda Pradana Putra. Health services performed by dividing the team into 4 small teams, each consisting of doctors, nurses and midwives. The existence of the first team during 10 days ended on October 16, 2009 and subsequent work continued by the third team. The third team consists of 7 doctors (dr. Enuh Nugraha, dr. Ervin Amouzegar, dr. Raditya, dr. Joko Susanto, dr. Ongko Priyanto, dr. Ary Faddlia, dr. Sonny Hidayat), 2 nurses and 2 pharmacists which were Arni Sopdiantina, Dading, SE, Gatot Widiyanto. The existence of this third team last until October 23, 2009. In addition to continue health services, they also perform distribution of medical and non-medical logistic to several areas in need. Some logistical support comes from SMA 3 Jakarta ALUMNI, IMA of North Sumatra Province and GP Pharmacy. Some coordination performed in these activities were with the Head of Health Department of West Sumatra Province and staff, the Head of Health Department of Pariaman District and staff, Health Department of Pariaman City and staff, dr. Arnes as Chairman of the IMA of West Sumatra Region, dr. Aspinuddin as Chairman of the IMA of Pariaman Branch, and WHO Health Cluster. Besides, there were cooperation with TV ONE and IMC in aid of medical teams and medicines.

Other forms of assistance may be provided by National Board of IMA and the Joined Coordinating Post is water purification installation placed in the Cubadak Air, North Pariaman Pariaman City. The operational existence of the tank was start at October 15, 2009. This purification car was located in the middle of settlements with a population of 287 families and has destroyed home around 80%. In addition to fulfill water supply around Cubadak Air, this installation also fulfill the needs of clean water to some areas such as Padang Sago, Talau, Kp. Dalam, Tandiket, Sungai Limau, Pariaman City. The installation capable of supplying the distribution tank to tank 13 per day. The existence of this water purification installation will end on 04 November 2009.

Logistics donations came from:
1. ALUMNI of SMA 3 Jakarta, a family package, 2 generators, biscuit as much as 30 large boxes, (ALLOCATION TO TALAU, KP DALAM)
2. IMA SUMATRA, basic food (sembako) package consists of 30 packages of rice @ 10 kg, clothes, instant food, tents. (PADANG ALAI, KP DALAM)
3. Water purification, in Cubadak Air, North Pariaman, Pariaman City.
4. TAUFIK ISMAIL Poetry Foundation, a package of clothes and blankets and pack of sarong.
5. TV ONE, Terpal Package
6. PB IDI, Dettol liquid soap package, Lifebouy, toothbrush and toothpaste, anti-mosquito drugs, shampoo.
7. KBK "Avicenna" in the form of Drug and Medical Equipment
8. GP Pharmacy in the form of medicines and medical devices
9. Project Hope and Uplift International in the form of medicines and medical equipments

The next activity after this period of emergency response, will more focused on the distribution of aid - medical equipment from cooperation of Project Hope, Uplift International and national board of IMA. This distribution plan is not only focused on Padang Pariaman but will also reach some hospitals in the area of Padang, Pariaman, Agam and Padang Pariaman.
This distribution activity face several obstacles, among others due to weather constraints that cargo ships carrying aid have to wait for 6 days in Teluk Bayur before unload its carriage. However, a meeting on Thursday, 12 November 2009 which was done by inviting several relevant structures such as of the Head of Health Department of West Sumatra Province, Head of Health Department Padang Pariaman, IMA Chairman of West Sumatra Region and Pariaman Branch, 14 caretaker of Puskesmas in Padang Pariaman and 6 hospital and also attended by IMA General Secretary dr. Zaenal Abidin and Chairman of the Main Coordinating Post which was represented by dr. Ulul Albab, performed smoothly as a beginning of a series of distribution activities as well as closing joined coordinating post "Kawan Sumbar ".

Distribution activities lasted for 2 days, 16th and 17th November 2009. We are fully supported by the INS who have been providing a wide place for this aid and the freedom for us during the sorting and distribution; and the IOM who provided trucking services for free.
Subsequently, all reporting activities will be delivered to the respective parties concerned such as the Health Department of West Sumatra Province, Health Department of Padang Pariaman District, IMA Chairman of Pariaman Branch, Health Department of Agam District and the OCHA Health Cluster.
Finally, we would like to express our gratitude to all those who helped our tasks during the emergency response and recovery time. To Head of Health Department of West Sumatra Province and his staff who have helped and are willing to accept this assistance. To IMA Chairman of the West Sumatra region, Head of Health Department of Padang Pariaman District and his staff and the IMA Chairman of Pariaman branch that always helps in the coordination of this assistance. INS Kayu Tanam who provided us a place and help this aid implementation well. All puskesmas and hospitals which were very understanding of our limitations in this distribution. To all colleagues in LKMI HMI Padang branch that gave us support for the existence of our facility and join us with great patience. And to all parties that we can not mention one by one. We are much aware, our support was only a small fraction of what is supposed to be in need by the community of West Sumatra who experienced this earthquake.
